Torino hiking group: hikes with guides in Piedmont and Aosta Valley

Here's some useful information about the Torino Hiking Group excursions, as well as frequently asked questions if this is your first excursion.

SUBSCRIPTION AND FEES

Is it mandatory to start a subscription?
In order to take part on the Torino Hiking Group excursions you'll need to have a valid UISP card. It is possible to get one, at the cost of 10 euro per person. The UISP subscription lasts for one year.

How can i signup and get the card?
Just fill the form of the hike you're interested in, including your personal details.

Can i pay for both the subscription and a hike at once?
Yes.

Do i need to forward the payment receipt?
Yes, please forward it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. If you pay with PayPal, we'll receive an automated response; if you're going to pay by wire transfer there should be an option to include an email address to get a notification.

Can i pay for other participants as well?
Yes, just make sure to forward the payment receipt to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. writing the names of the participants you've paid for.

What happens if a hike gets canceled?
The paid amount will be available for another excursion or, if you prefer, will be refunded on the same payment method.

Can i cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking 48 hours before departure without any penalty. For later cancellations, refund will not be available.

Can i pay by cash?
No, you can pay by PayPal/credit card or wire transfer.

Where and when can i collect my Verticalife UISP card?
At the Verticalife headquarters in Via Argentero 6, Turin. Kindly email or call us to get an appointment.

What's the average age of the participants?
Most of our subscribers are between 25 and 45 years old, but the Torino Hiking Group is suitable for every outdoor lovers! Check out the pictures from our hikes on our facebook page.

I don't know if my fitness level is enough to take part on an excursion, what can i do?
You can fill the form for the excursion you're interested in, and our guide will get back to you!

Do you provide equipment rental services?
We can rent hiking poles, snowshoes and light crampons. For all the other equipment and clothing, we'll gladly suggest you where to purchase the missing items. Generally speaking, Decathlon offers valid products!

Are lunchs or dinners in the mountain huts mandatory?
No, unless expressely stated in the hike description.

Do i have to be an experienced hiker to participate?
No, the goal of the Torino Hiking Group is to attract new mountain lovers! There are no technical difficulties on the trails we choose, but you'll have to be able to cover the distances and altitude gaps listed in the excursion descriptions.

Can i get in touch with the hiking guide?
Of course, the Torino Hiking Group guides are at your disposal. You'll find their contact details in every excursion description.

Can i wear sneakers?
No, you'll need either hiking shoes or mountain boots, with a proper sole, and waterproof.

Can i take my dog with me?
It depends on the area, it's not always allowed: some National Park might forbid it. Ask our guide! During the excursion, the dog must be kept on leash.

Is there a minimum number of participants?
The excursions are confirmed with 7+ participants. If the minimum number isn't reached (hardly ever happens), our guide will then cancel the hike. The amount paid will be available for another excursion or refunded.

Can the destination change for bad weather?
We choose the destination according to the climate of the season; in case of bad weather the guide may change the tour to a more suitable location. If you do not wish to take part to the new excursion, you won't be eligible for a refund.

Will the excursion be canceled in case of bad weather?
If the weather forecast won't ensure the feasability of the hike, the gude will cancel it and contact the participants within 24 hours prior to the departure. The amount paid will be available for another Torino hiking group excursion or refunde.

What should i wear?
Check out our list for the required/recommended equipment and clothing.

I don't have a car, how can i take part to the excursion?
No problem! The meeting point is in Turin, the participants will offer rides to the starting point of the excursion, and the passengers will split the costs.

Can i get directly to the hike starting point?
Of course, our guide will contact you a couple days before the departure, giving you all the details about the starting location.

What time we will return after the hike?
It's not certain, since it depends on the season, the type of excursion, the level of participants and the fun we're having, so we recommend to keep a clear schedule for the evening!
