LEVEL
Suitable for experienced and physically fit hikers capable of tackling daily hikes of approximately 6-7 hours per day with the elevation gains indicated in the itinerary, including sections of EE difficulty and/or equipped with chains and fixed ropes.
The program can be customized according to your experience and fitness level.
RECOMMENDED PERIOD
From mid July to mid August.
From mid-June to mid-July, it is still possible to encounter snow on the higher mountain passes. Therefore, we recommend the use of crampons and an ice axe.

HIGHLIGHTS
- A backpacking journey spanning 54 spectacular kilometers through the high Val Masino in Valtellina, amidst wild valleys and granite mountains, descending into Valmalenco.
- Walk between passes and valleys at altitudes ranging from 2500 to 3000 meters, with breathtaking views of towering rock formations reaching towards the sky, such as Ligoncio, Pizzo Badile, Pizzo Cengalo, Cima di Zocca, Cima di Castello, and the imposing Monte Disgrazia.
- A tour designed for well-trained hikers, featuring sections of equipped trails requiring via ferrata equipment, as well as rocky crossings and steep gully ascents.
- Overnight stays in the cozy mountain huts of Val Masino, to enjoy the Alpine warm hospitality and delicious traditional cuisine.

A self guided tour is perfect for hikers with previous experience, with a good sense of direction and able to read a trail map and/or use a navigation app.
Verticalife will take care of everything, from checking the accommodations availability to the bookings and payments for the participants.
Moreover, thanks to our deep knowledge of our itineraries, we also offer consultation services on the different stages of your self guided tour, eventually replanning them according to the availability of accommodations and/or your hiking level.
